The Neighbourhoods Board plays a key role in shaping and overseeing the 10-year Plan for Neighbourhoods programme for Accrington, which will invest up to £20 million to regenerate communities, strengthen social infrastructure and support local priorities. The Board brings together local councillors, MPs, community leaders, representatives from the Police and Crime Commissioner’s Office and others. Hyndburn Borough Council acts as the accountable body for the programme.

Councillor Munsif Dad, Leader of Hyndburn Borough Council said:

“We’re sorry to share that Andy Tatchell, who was selected to be the Chair of the Board, has stepped aside for personal health reasons. Andy brought insight and commitment to the role, and we are grateful for everything he contributed during the initial Board setup.

We are now inviting expressions of interest from anyone who feels they have the right mix of skills, experience and enthusiasm to take on this important voluntary role.”

As Chair, you would help lead the Board through the next vital stages. This includes developing the initial four-year Regeneration Plan, which will set out the priorities and investments for the first phase of the programme starting in April 2026. You would work alongside other Board members to shape the long-term vision and ensure local voices are at the heart of decision-making.

Ideally we are looking for someone who can commit to at least the first four years, with a view to supporting further planning and delivery through this important early phase.

If you are interested, please send a short personal statement explaining why you would be a good fit for the role and what you would bring to it.  Expressions of interest should be submitted by Friday 22 August 2025 to becky.moon@hyndburnbc.gov.uk.  You can also email Becky Moon if you have any questions in respect of this process.
