Hyndburn Borough Council is on the hunt for talented artists or organisations to create three stunning, community-led murals in Accrington Town Centre.

The murals will add vibrant splashes of colour to the town, tell the incredible stories of Hyndburn’s past and present, and work hand-in-hand with the local community through a series of creative workshops.

The theme? Movement. From the migration of people shaping the area’s culture, to world-changing inventions like the Spinning Jenny and NORI bricks, and even the enduring solidarity of the Accrington Pals—this is a celebration of Hyndburn’s rich heritage in motion.

The murals will transform walls near exciting new greening projects, complementing themes set to be inside Accrington’s upcoming heritage and culture venue, which is being developed inside Market Chambers building on Accrington Town Square. Each artwork will not only brighten the streets but also serve as a backdrop for future storytelling, events and community initiatives.

Whether you’re a solo artist or part of a collective, the Council is inviting proposals for this colourful, heritage-inspired mission. Painting the town and celebrate everything that makes Hyndburn unique.

Applications now open! Don’t miss the chance to be part of Accrington’s creative transformation.
