Following the recent success in securing Levelling Up funding for the Accrington Town Square schemes, Burtons Chambers is set to undergo extensive refurbishment, breathing new life into the historic building.
Originally a workplace, Burtons Chambers an important Art Deco heritage asset in the Town Square opposite the Town Hall has become increasingly unoccupied. The funding is allowing for the building to be sympathetically restored, and repurposed for the provision of flexible working space. The project will reimagine the space as a multifunctional hub, providing flexible working spaces. A key focus will be on nurturing and supporting the growth of new businesses and SMEs.
With plans for the redevelopment progressing, work to identify an operator is now moving to the next stage, with the Pipeline Notice setting out plans for selection of the operator published here.
The process is planned to start in October, when a Contract Notice will be published and more information will be made available on the Accrington Town Square website.
The selected operators will each be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the buildings, and will support Hyndburn Borough Council to ensure the project has the maximum benefit for businesses and residents across Accrington and the wider Hyndburn area. Their input into the ongoing design process will be invaluable in ensuring that the space aligns seamlessly with market demands, creating an inspiring and functional space.
CBRE are supporting Hyndburn Borough Council to progress the selection processes, demonstrating a commitment to identify operators who will deliver high quality environments that exceed market expectations.
