Our Accrington Town Square team is honoured to support Armed Forces Day by saluting the brave individuals who serve our country. Held each year on the last Saturday of June, this day allows us to show our appreciation for those currently serving, as well as reservists, cadets, and their families. Working on the Accrington Town Square projects our team have been inspired by the story of the Accrington Pals, and the proud history of service in the armed forces by the people of Accrington that continues to this day.
Morgan Sindall values its connection to the Armed Forces. As a founding partner of BuildForce, we have been dedicated since 2011 to helping service leavers and veterans’ transition into civilian careers in the construction industry. We are proud to also hold the Silver standard of the Armed Forces Covenant and are striving towards Gold.
We support our employees who are reservists by providing 10 additional days of paid leave for training and mobilisation, ensuring they can fulfil their duties both at work and in service.
This Armed Forces Day, the Accrington Town Square site team joins our other sites across the North West and UK in raising flags and holding toolbox talks with staff and supply chain partners. These activities help highlight the importance of the day and honour the commitment and sacrifices of our military community.
Councillor Stewart Eaves, Armed Forces Champion, said:
“As Armed Forces Champion for Hyndburn Council, it was an honour to see Morgan Sindall and the Accrington Town Square team marking Armed Forces Day 2024 with a moment of reflection and raising a flag in tribute. This day is an annual event where we can all make time to recognise Hyndburn’s service community, whether they are currently serving troops, veterans or service families, by celebrating and thanking them for all that they do every day to protect us and keep the country safe. For our community where the history of the armed forces is so poignant, the commitment, bravery and dedication of all our service members continues to be an inspiration to all.”
Join us in saluting our forces and showing our gratitude. #SALUTEOURFORCES
