DOME is a small pop-up community space in a shop on Accrington Town Square which is used to test displays, activities and gain feedback for the future heritage and cultural venue. The next time this opens will be to show the detailed plans for the building and to have further conversations about the stories we should tell! We will announce dates in the coming weeks.
Our recent event was a pop-up exhibition and free activities, inspired by the story of Lydia Becker.
Lydia Ernestine Becker was a changemaker, scientist and influencer. From Accrington roots to global impact, Lydia had big ideas at a time when women were often not listened to. She was a scientist and artist who stood up for fairness.
Over 1000 visitors came to the pop-up exhibition to learn more about her and take part in different artist-led activities, inspired by her story.
