Burtons Chambers Transformation Continues
The building opposite Accrington Town Hall is being restored to become a modern, flexible office and co-working space for individuals and businesses.
Phase 1 of the building’s external restoration was completed in 2025, and work is well underway on updating the interior in a way that honours the building's history and transforming it into a space for modern co-working which will be operated on behalf of the Council by 2-Work.
The new space will be tailored to meet the diverse needs of small businesses of all sizes, entrepreneurs, and freelancers. It will feature a range of private offices suites – from small two person offices to larger spaces for growing or established teams – alongside flexible co-working areas. Complete with bookable meeting rooms and other amenities similar to those in 2-Work’s successful flex spaces across the North.
Krol-Corlett were appointed by the Council to complete phase 2, largely the internal fit out of the building, which is on track for completion by mid-July 2026. The new offering will open for business later this year at the same time as the Market Hall reopens, and all the temporary market trader cabins have been removed off the square.
