Hyndburn Council’s recently appointed project team is proud to announce its participation in the recent Skills and Education event organised by Amazing Accrington.

The event, which took place last week, served as a valuable opportunity for the newly appointed team to engage with the local community and share insights into the exciting construction opportunities within Accrington, particularly focusing on the ongoing Accrington Town Square scheme.

Hosted at Accrington Stanley’s football ground, the event drew an impressive crowd of more than 1,000 final-year students from various high schools in the area, all in the crucial phase of their compulsory education.

The Accrington Town Square team, including professionals from Hive Projects, Rider Levett Bucknall, AEW Architects, Si Sealy, and MAC, played a pivotal role in facilitating meaningful discussions with the students.

The event was designed to provide young minds with valuable insights into the diverse career paths available within a variety of industries. Accrington Town Square, the development currently underway, was showcased as a prominent local project, offering students a glimpse into the construction opportunities right on their doorstep.

The multi-disciplinary team, working on behalf of Hyndburn Council, engaged with the students in an interactive and informative manner. The students had the opportunity to learn about the diverse roles within the construction industry, from architecture and design to project management and engineering. The Accrington Town Square team encouraged the students to consider these exciting opportunities as they prepare to transition into further education or embark on their careers.

In addition to exploring potential career paths, the students were also introduced to the positive impact that the Accrington Town Square project is set to make on their community. The project, which aims to revitalise the town centre of Accrington, not only offers a platform for local employment but also promises to create a vibrant space for residents to enjoy.

As the scheme continues, the team on site are actively looking for further ways we can support local communities, businesses, charities and schools, and welcome all feedback and suggestions relating to Social Impact and community engagement.
